Job Summary


UPS Supply Chain Solutions
is seeking to fill an Export Management position. This position is responsible for managing the processes that support the customer's export operation and oversees hourly employees.  The position is responsible for ensuring compliance and timely service by applying knowledge of laws, regulations, governing agencies, procedures, audits, programs, and practices that reduce company risk.

Job Duties

§     Respond promptly to customer concerns and issues to demonstrate understanding, resolve issues, and maintain business.

§     Review customer volumes to ensure all documents are processed accurately and timely.

§     Perform routine file audits to ensure that compliance and recordkeeping requirements are being met as well as overseeing EEI audits to ensure errors are being resolved and corrections obtained as necessary

§     Collaborate to identify actions needed to resolve compliance problems and develop corrective action plans, while providing input into procedural changes and interpret organizational implications to changing laws and regulations.

§     Effectively manage financial performance of the assigned account and interpret cost while meeting the customer metrics.

§     Manage the workforce, including determining staffing needs based on departmental needs, monitor group performance issues in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork.

§     Observe staff to monitor work practices and ensure compliance with UPS and customer work instructions while holding others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals.

§     Provide on-going feedback, conduct performance evaluations, identify employee development needs and provide support to improve performance in a consistent, fair, and objective manner.

Preferred Competencies

§     Demonstrates a broad knowledge of agency/governing body functions as well as compliance regulations and procedures; stays updated on changes in laws and regulations; performs routine compliance and enforcement of basic regulations and procedures with some supervision; identifies specific impacts of non-compliance; documents paperwork according to procedures to ensure compliance with regulations; identifies routine situations where the organization may be out of compliance (e.g., hazardous conditions).

§     Demonstrates a detailed understanding of logistics and supply chain concepts such as how supplies are acquired and how items are manufactured, distributed, and returned; makes recommendations for possible changes to solve supply chain problems on routine accounts.

§     Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of company policies and procedures in a business area that apply in routine and specialized/limited situations and how policies impact business results; identifies potential problems with applying specific policies.

§     Uses existing career development process and tools with some assistance to monitor employee development; provides feedback to employees and peers on job skills and personal behavior; identifies employees’ areas of strength and developmental needs; recommends training opportunities for others with some guidance; assists in providing developmental suggestions to employees that align with their goals.

§     Demonstrates some advanced knowledge of how to conduct customer analysis using common sources of information to identify customer facts and trends; collects standard research data about current and prospective customers with some guidance; identifies and develops lists of prospective customers; assists with identifying instances where customer needs or expectations are not being met; drafts promotions of products, services, and features based upon research with oversight from others.

§     Accurately reads and interprets balance sheets and income statements; demonstrates understanding of financial measures such as profit margin, ROI, operating ratio, fixed/variable costs, NPV, DCF, etc.; demonstrates a basic understanding of primary revenue and cost drivers for UPS; develops basic business cases to determine whether a course of action or investment adds value to the business; analyzes and explains budget variances.

§     Generates reports in appropriate format using basic software with some oversight from others; reviews reports to ensure accuracy and completeness; identifies some problems with report generation (e.g., missing variables, incorrect data, etc.)

Follows standard guidelines to update existing budgets; tracks expenditures of programs/campaigns, systems, or departments against financial targets with some assistance; defines impact of program, campaign, system, or department budget on organizational financial plan with guidance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

§                       Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.

§                       Must have experience with the EAR, Restricted Parties Lists maintained by the U.S. Government including Denied Persons list, Specially Designated Nationals and embargo countries.


EXPERIENCE:

§                       Must have experience with the various types of export documents (ex: Shippers Letter of Instruction, Letters of Credit, export licenses, encrypted products, commercial invoice, packing lists) and the ability to recognize red flags and resolve issues as they pertain to export transactions.

§                       A Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, or International Management preferred.

§                       Five years of Export experience is required.

§                       Basic accounting and financial anaylsis experience is preferred.

§                       Preferred to have experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
