Title: Customs Brokerage Assistant

Reports to: James Maddux-Customs Compliance Manager

Job Summary: The ideal candidate will be able to work independently in a "cradle to grave" Customs entry processing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Obtains needed documentation from vendors, and parties involved for the proper preparation of the Customs entry.
  2. Communicates with carriers to properly trace, prepare for the arrival of, and obtain documentation needed for clearance.
  3. Have a working knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and be able to properly classify our products.
  4. Keep abreast of amendments made through constant changes in Customs laws, and any legislation or procedures that will directly affect our products or procedures.
  5. Entry Writing--Take steps to affect the release of the goods in Customs custody on behalf of Craftmade International, and the proper preparation of all Customs documents.
  6. Familiarity with RLF processing, and requirements to effect release of outer port shipments
  7. Coordinate freight wires on a regular basis to insure ocean freight is paid timely.
  8. Maintain a high rate of accuracy in order to avoid Customs inspections, penalties and delays.
  9. Organize work-flow to effectively manage numerous imports, proactively processing all documentation, requests for information, etc.
  10. Work with carriers, local delivery agents, and warehouse receiving personnel to coordinate timely deliveries, and avoid demurrage issues.
  11. Considerable amount of phone work, e-mail communication, etc...
  12. Trouble shooting and problem solving
  13. Ability to work in a small department, with minimal supervision. And, find solutions to issues that may arise.

Minimum Skills Required:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Pleasant phone demeanor
  • Detail oriented

Position: Import Ocean Agent

Morrison Express / DFW has opportunity in its Import Ocean Department

This position is intended to perform the normal functions of local imports via ocean carrier/vendors.

Position Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma (required)
  2. Up to two years of industry experience (required)
  3. Experience with import procedures (required)
  4. Some college or trade school (preferred, not required)

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

1)To perform district import operations and provide all associated documentation
2)To meet customer needs
3)To communicate to customers, carriers and other offices/agents in a quick and thorough manner, using one or more media tools
4)To Notify customers/brokers of product arrival and charges associated with these services: to do the same with invoice process
5)To obtain documentation from carrier operators, match them with pre-advices and open files on the company's computerized document administration system
6)To issue delivery orders to carriers and arrange timely delivery
7)To complete all inbond moves; this includes, but is not limited to I.Ts and permits to transfer.
8)To obtain all necessary documents and charges prior to release freight.
9)To trace lost freight and shortages; to follow up with container freight stations/shipping lines and inform all stations/agents involved of these actions

1)To cooperate with warehouse personnel in performing combined duties
2)To meet customer needs by merging carriers schedules into customer's product delivery activities.
3)To generate freight transfer and support it with appropriate documentation.
4)To complete assigned workload duties within normal, reasonable time periods
5)To originated documentations with Shipper's Letter of Instruction (SIL) and/or Letter of Credit for accuracy.
6)To communicate to customers, carriers and other offices/agents in a quick and thorough manner using one or more media tools.
7)To work closely with field sales staff in order to respond expeditiously to customer's needs.

Trade Compliance Specialist

DynCorp International has an exciting opportunity in our Global Trade Compliance group.  

The position supports the trade compliance staff in helping with the implementation of export and
import policies, procedures, methods, operating practices, and functional performance standards to
facilitate effective implementation within program objectives and requirements for DI to include the
requirements contained in the Arms Export Control Act, Export Administration Act, and U.S. Customs
Regulations.

The position will be temporarily located at our Irving, TX (DFW Airport) facility but will relocate (in June
2008) to our new facility at Alliance Airport in Fort Worth, TX.

Position Requirements:

1.        High School Diploma (required).
2.        Up to two years of industry experience (required).
3.        Experience with import and export laws and regulations (required).
4.        Some college, trade school (preferred, not required).
5.        Custom Broker License (preferred, not required).

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

1.        Assist the Trade Compliance group with compliance issues from various business units and
programs to ensure reasonable care standards are upheld.
2.        Manage various databases to ensure accuracy by entering in data and adjust according to the
information needed to pass on to appropriate staff for reporting purposes.
3.        Ensure that all required files are maintained to ensure quick retrieval as needed when
information is requested.
4.        Set up new programs that will allow the Trade Compliance group the ability to transform current
files and forms onto the new website so that foreign sites and programs will have the access to
licenses and other information, as needed.
5.        Document classification decisions into a database for quick reference.
6.        Manage the scheduling of corporate import / export training programs.
7.        Review and verify all information is correct with the use of the TMP exception form.  
8.        Review all information on the use of the 126.4c exemption form and send to the Department of
State, as required by federal regulations.
9.        Help to track the use of the U.S. Goods returned program.
10.        Help to maintain an accurate and effective record keeping program.
11.        Research Schedule B and HTS, ECCN and USML classification required for exported products.
 
12.        Assist with Trade Compliance reviews.
13.        Copy, Scan, Fax, Email, and other general office duties, as needed.
14.        Order office supplies.
15.        Learn other trade compliance responsibilities to support the department.
